From Lost Handicraft To Aluminum Circle Cookware

We often use cookware made of aluminum circles without realizing it, because they have gone through so delicate process that it’s really hard to recognize their raw material. Neither did they come from processing machines, but from the hands of craftsmen. Two people, usually husband and wife, consisted of a team making aluminum cookware. They moved from place to place for business. Once the business came, often in a small town or village, they would fire a stove in which the old aluminum items from a customer were put. They fanned the fire which soon made the stove look like a red bucket. Finally the items melted into liquid and flowed down to a collecting container. The craftsmen would then get a mould ready and poured the aluminum liquid carefully into the mould. After the liquid became solid and cool, it was separated from the mould and changed into a good-shaped pot just like a magic. The pot may not be beautiful enough compared with modern ones made of smooth aluminum circle, but its toughness gave a real tactile impression.

The handicraft of making aluminum cookware was simple and direct just like days in the past. People spent days slowly in their own regular way, following a certain traditional rule between human and the nature. Nowadays we don’t spend days. We run after days and days drive us. We run so fast that we do not even know what raw material for our pressure pot is, not to mention its manufacturing process.
